News Story
Members have been busy today attending 2 Second Alarm incidents and a serious road crash. The crash, on Karaka Road, aka SH22, in South Auckland, engaged 6 members for 3 and a quarter hours in traffic management until contractors took over. Police required road closures while they investigated the accident. About the same time 12 other members were responding to a 2nd alarm downtown in Auckland City, a leak of chlorine at the Tepid Baths. Several blocks had to be closed to traffic: Operational Support members helped manage cordons, particularly the complex Nelson/Fanshaw/Sturdee Streets intersection, for more than 3 hours while firefighters worked to contain the spillage. Then in the evening the Brigade was out again to another 2nd Alarm, a garage fire in Flatbush, South Auckland. And just a flourish to end the weekend, a call early Monday morning to a road accident on busy Hillsborough Road. Members managed traffic until the debris was cleared... just in time before the morning commute.
