Power poles keep the Unit busy
10 June 2012
Truck v Car v Pole...

On the evening of 9 June, Operational Support members spent a couple of hours at a motor vehicle crash on Mt Smart Rd in Onehunga after a truck hit a car and shunted it into a power pole. No lines came down so power in the area was not interrupted for local residents... lucky, because it was the night of the first test between the All Blacks and Ireland. Mt Smart Rd is a busy through route, but traffic flows were maintained by members using using a contraflow.

Just after midnight on the same evening, members responded to a crash on Donovan St in Blockhouse Bay where a car hit a power pole and a person was trapped in the vehicle.
