Several members and operational support vehicles were part of the Fire Service's Fire + Rescue open day at MOTAT in central Auckland last weekend.
The unit's canteen, operational support 2 and operational support 3 were on show, while members carried out a range of tasks to help with the smooth running of the event.
They were on hand to greet and assist members of the public, help with vehicle movements around the grounds and crowd safety at the kitchen fire demonstration. The venue's theatre was used to show visitors a slideshow of pictures from the brigade's time in Christchurch in the aftermath of the February earthquake.
Two members donned the outfits of mascots Flints and Amber and once these duties were over were among a few who got a bird's eye view of the event thanks to the crew of Parnell's aerial appliance.
MOTAT staff also treated members remaining at the end of the day to experience the Voyager 1 motion movie simulator.
