Members turned out to the 3rd serious fire of the day when a house caught alight in the south Auckland suburb of Favona. The call escalated to a 2nd Alarm when it was found the two-storied dwelling was well involved: the top floor was destroyed, the lower floor severely damaged by smoke, heat and water. Callers phoning 111 to report the fire said the blaze had spread to the house next door but luckily damage to it was confined to melted plastic weatherboards and spouting and a few cracked windows.
