Fire Destroys Old House at Mangere
23 November 2017
The homestead, a protected Heritage Property, was left gutted
Last night's third alarm fire in the former House Homestead on the corner of Roberton Road and Bader Drive in Mangere has destroyed the heritage building. Firefighters ran out multiple hose lines to extinguish the fire which, on the fringe of Mangere Centre Park, posed no threat to any other property. The old homestead, owned by Auckland Council, has been vacant for some years during which time it has been vandalised. But recently plans were finalised by civic authorities for a full restoration as a heritage property and work was about to start.
