Celebration to Mark Transition
19 July 2017
Chief Fire Officer Glenn Teal shows the shield to mark the change-over to FENZ
The Brigade has formally celebrated the move from New Zealand Fire Service to Fire and Emergency New Zealand, the new organisation now responsible for fire services throughout the land. New legislation, effective from the first of this month, reforms fire services combining rural and urban and, among other measures, updates the law to better reflect non-fire operations which, increasingly, fire-fighters are called on to deal with. Fire and Emergency New Zealand gifted a shield to the Brigade as a permanent reminder of the changeover and provided a contribution towards a supper the Brigade held to formally mark the event. Members also took advantage of the gathering to have a group photo taken.
