3rd Alarm House Fire
17 May 2017
Wind-blown, the blaze quickly spread through the whole house

Today's early morning fire all but destroyed a two-storeyed mansion-type house in Mt Roskill. Ironically it was pouring with rain at the time, but this did not help firefighters as they tackled the blaze: strong blustery winds quickly spread the flames through the whole house. The occupants fled from the fire to a neighbouring house. The property involved was situated at the end of the cul-de-sac, Yeats Way, and at one stage firefighters considered establishing hose-lines from Hillsborough Road to help quell the blaze. Members provided lighting to illuminate the whole house, undertook traffic and scene safety and attended with the mobile canteen.
