Our Brigade was represented at this morning's Civic Service centred on the Cenotaph in front of the Auckland Museum. Hundreds turned out in brilliantly-fine weather to remember those who served in various conflicts... who gave their lives, were injured, disabled or - on their return- suffered in other ways. The ceremony was punctuated by a fly-past of a dozen aircraft, including de Havilland Tiger Moth bi-planes as used in World War 2. The Brigade had two participants. Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Ric Carlyon laid a wreath on behalf of the Fire Service's Auckland City Area while Senior Station Officer and Anglican Bishop of Auckland, Right Reverend Ross Bay, led prayers of dedication and benediction. Other members assisted at a commemoration service at Mangere Bridge. Lest We Forget.
