Members assisted at last weekend's special emergency services "open day" at Westgate where "Stay Safe" messages focused on Auckland's Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. Special visual signage and signed-language were used to alert dangers and how to minimise risk. Fire Service displays included advice about availability of special household fire alarms for those who are hard of hearing because they aren't alerted by traditional audible warnings. Police, Civil Defence, Surf Lifesaving and Community Patrols also joined the day.
