This morning's early morning call-out ended a busy 24 hours for the Brigade - five working calls. The first was to power lines down in Ellerslie where members protected the scene in the interests of public safety for some hours. The next call took us near the southern boundaries of our area: to a scrub fire near Tuakau. The mobile canteen responded, providing meals for firefighters. At the same time assistance was given at a car accident on the motorway overbridge in Mt Roskill. Early evening, and we were paged to assist at a 2nd Alarm fire in large sheds in Popes Road, Takanini. Members closed the road, blocked by appliances and hose lines. The mobile canteen was on the road again, attending to refresh weary firefighters. And the busy 24 hours ended with a call today at 1.30am to an ammonia leak at a South Auckland factory.
