Our Brigade was involved in a long-duration assignment following a fatal accident at the intersection of Great South Road, Te Irirangi Drive and Cavendish Drive just after half past ten last night. Members initially put in four road blocks at the request of police so that the accident scene was sealed off. Three vehicles were involved in the crash: firefighters cut three occupants from one and provided initial first aid to others who, on impact, had been thrown out of another vehicle. Multiple persons were taken to hospital, one in a critical condition, while one occupant in a badly damaged car died at the scene. Our response was 11 members and two support vehicles who were at the scene for about 3 and half hours.
