... and from the roof. The boarding-house was gutted.
Fire ripped through a New Lynn boarding-house at dawn today, escalated to a second alarm turnout. At first it was believed occupants may have been trapped inside but all persons were later accounted for, one man requiring treatment for smoke inhalation. Members closed busy Titirangi Road, but once initial firefighting operations ceased the road was re-opened to city-bound commuters in time for the peak rush-hour. Fire investigators and police are making enquiries as to how the fire started
