Typical overnight scene: firefighters clear a fallen tree in Green Lane West
Emergency Services have been busy overnight dealing with events resulting from the Nor' Easterly storm which swept Greater Auckland overnight. There have been many responses to fallen trees, power lines down and roofs lifting among calls to motor vehicle accidents and a house fire at Papakura. Members assisted at various situations overnight with 3 more just after sunrise... where fallen trees or power lines blocked roads in Greenlane, Epsom and Hunua Road. One or two incidents have been long-duration, awaiting over-taxed linemen to make fallen wires safe, or until branches and limbs are removed from the carriageway.
