Rural Bush Fire
7 January 2017
Personnel enjoy a meal and a break in firefighting at the canteen
Our brigade's operations at a bush fire came to an end late last night when the ablutions trailer was returned to Auckland. The fire burned through about 5 hectares within a forest plantation at Makarau, north of Kaukapakapa where firefighters were involved over 2 days. We supported them by taking both the mobile canteen and the ablutions trailer. 15 of our members were involved in the event. As well as preparing meals on site, we provided traffic management for fire services' vehicles involved in a water supply shuttle, travelling the forest's narrow, unsealed and steep roads.
