News Story
Last evening proved a busy time for the Brigade with three calls at once just on sundown. The first was to assist with traffic management and scene safety in Auckland's inner suburb, Herne Bay, where a live high-voltage power line had come down into the street. These duties had no sooner been organised than there was a call-out to a motor vehicle accident in Eastern districts on Whitford Road. With 2 simultaneous calls, the Brigade's 3rd vehicle was pressed into service as a precaution in case there were further calls. Within minutes of the driver uplifting Operational Support 3 he was responding to the 3rd call of the evening, a persons-reported house fire in Onehunga. Firefighters later confirmed there was no one in the smoke-logged building. Overnight there was a further call, a motor vehicle accident in Preston Road, Otara, and yesterday afternoon our Brigade assisted at a crash in rural South Auckland, on Mercer Ferry Road.
