Those involved in today's early morning crash in Gillies Avenue, Epsom, had a lucky escape, judging by the damage to both the car and the station wagon which had collided at the Epsom Avenue intersection. Altogether 4 vehicles were involved... two parked cars in Epsom Avenue had been sideswiped before the crash at the intersection. The driver of one the vehicles escaped with scratches while the other fled the scene. After impact the car involved slammed into a traffic light standard. The station wagon came to rest on top of the car. Members provide traffic management, closing Gillies Avenue while police completed investigations and until both vehicles were removed. And within 24 hours, a similar event - a two car crash at a light-controlled intersection, both vehicles mangled but no serious injury. The second crash occurred at the intersection of Great North and Sabulite Roads, Glen Eden. The vehicles ricocheted on impact, ending up 50m apart.
