Three Calls on the Trot...
27 December 2014
The Housing Corporation unit in Waterview on fire this afternoon.

The Brigade has turned out to 3 calls today. First there was a motor vehicle accident at Massey followed by a house fire in Whenuapai and a blaze in a unit in the Auckland suburb of Waterview.
The accident at Massey required traffic management for a short time until the road was cleared. At Whenuapai members were deployed for traffic management and other duties. Then the call to Housing Corporation unit in Waterview which was well alight: a fire which raced through the building and is now being investigated as suspicious. The significance of the series of the three calls lies in the fact that for our vehicle, OS2, and QFF Ian Batterbee it was a hat-trick, a very rare event in which a member turns out to 3 calls, from one to the next, without having returned to station or home. Traditionally, those who complete a hat-trick shout colleagues a round of drinks. These days it's celebrated by mention on our web-site!
