News Story
It's been an eventful weekend: the Brigade's been called out 13 times since lunchtime Friday. There were 7 calls yesterday. They have ranged from serious house fires to motor vehicle accidents and, today, the leakage of hundreds of tonnes of molten glass within the glass factory at Penrose. On Friday night members provided traffic management at a road accident after a driver lost control in May Road. 5 cars were damaged in a trail of destruction, and landing on soft grass probably saved a woman's life after she "flew through the air", catapulted across the footpath, over a fence and on to a front lawn nearby. Some incidents OSU attended were short-lived - others occupied members for several hours. The canteen attended the long-duration job at the glassworks.
