3 Calls Today - 2 Long Duration
5 October 2014
Scene of this evening's Riverhead accident
Tense moment as the door of the overturned horse truck is about to be opened.
Our brigade has attended 3 calls today: two were long events. The first was a 10 hour job at the early morning Second Alarm, a fire in underground cables at Transpower's Ellerslie substation. 15 members attended carrying out a wide range of duties. The second call was to a house fire in Flat Bush where traffic management was required. It was the same at the second long job, a motor vehicle accident at Riverhead. It involved a car, a power pole and a horse truck. The occupants of the car were injured and removed to hospital by ambulance. The horses were contained in the truck which landed off the road in a paddock. It took time to release the animals and to salvage the truck.
