School Block Destroyed By Fire
27 September 2014
Fire pours from Northcote College's technology block.

Northcote College's technology block, including a carpentry workshop, was destroyed by fire last night in a blaze that resulted in a 3rd Alarm by the Fire Service. The 100m x 40m two-storeyed wooden structure was well alight - the glow and smoke attracting a large crowd. Firefighters ran out hoses to obtain water from Onewa Road, piping supply to the technology block which is in the heart of the College property, surrounded by other buildings. They were unaffected by the fire. The swimming pool was used as an additional water source. Members, joined by their colleagues from the Silverdale Unit were engaged in many fireground tasks: refreshments, lighting, assisting with feeders, at the command unit and traffic management.
