Another Successful Year
16 September 2014

Chief Fire Officer, Glenn Teal, told last night's Annual General Meeting of the Brigade that the 2013-14 year was both successful and notable.
Spelling out some of the year's highlights in his Annual Report, Glenn said members have retained operational readiness and responded to 553 emergency call-outs. He noted celebrations to mark the Brigade's 80th anniversary. "And then hosting last year's United Fire Brigades' Association's Annual Conference was a major task. It was successful, well received and raised the profile of Operational Support among all brigades across New Zealand. It was the first time an Operational Support Unit has taken the role as Host".
Glenn recorded the fact that the Brigade continues to attract potential recruits. "We always have more candidates than we need to maintain our established number".
His report also welcomes news that the NZFS is replacing our radio network, together with hand-held radios and associated equipment."This is essential to our operations" Glenn says, "and we are grateful to the NZFS for this investment which will result in state-of-the art communication equipment".
