QFF Mark Foster directs traffic away from the scene of a fatal crash.

After a quiet Saturday, members were awakened at around 5.30am this morning with a call to help with traffic control on Carrington Road outside Unitec. A vehicle had collided with a power pole and then decamped, leaving the pole precariously placed and power lines hanging very low across the road. Members provided traffic control until Vector could render the scene safe. Shortly thereafter a long-duration incident began in Pukekawa, with another motor vehicle accident, this one involving a fatality. Members assisted with road closures while the Police Serious Crash Unit carried out their investigation. Two further calls followed: an MVA in Otahuhu and a tree collapsed on a vehicle at Auckland Domain.
