News Story
A fierce fire swept through a two-storey house in Kelston this morning triggering a second alarm callout. There was some doubt at first that family members had made their way out, but it was later ascertained everyone was safe. Fire quickly spread throughout the premises. Members closed the street and then subsequently "rescued" a bus that got caught in the blocked section, enabling it to resume service.
And just after 5pm a second alarm was transmitted for another house fire, this time in Mt Albert. Members at first closed busy Hendon Avenue to all traffic with a diversion, later they opened the road to Westbound traffic. Once firefighting had concluded and hoses and appliances were moved from the roadway the road was reopened.
