Third Alarm at Manurewa
6 January 2014
Fire-fighting operations focussed on the rear of the building
Today's lunchtime fire that ripped through unoccupied first floor offices in Manurewa is being treated as suspicious. Fire-fighters escalated the event to a third alarm - members responded in 2 appliances and the canteen. Portions of Great South Road and Hill Road were closed because firstly, to enable fire-fighting operations, and secondly because it was being treated as a crime scene. The building involved comprises shops along the Great South Road street frontage, which were largely undamaged, while at the rear there's a health clinic and unoccupied offices above, all of which were affected by fire, heat, smoke or water.
