Christmas Morning Fire
25 December 2013

Father Christmas wasn't the only one on an urgent mission overnight - in the early hours of today fire-fighters dealt with an outbreak in one of South Auckland's biggest factories. The small blaze, centred in machinery, caused heavy smoke-logging throughout the massive Visy plant, triggering a Second Alarm. Once the fire was out it was a waiting game for the smoke to clear which took several hours. Members who responded had all hopes dashed of witnessing the annual phenomenon of reindeer and a sleigh in the sky: disappointingly, a gathering cloud base evidently hid the spectacle. Merry Christmas!
