Lane Closure and barricades: had passersby guessing
This morning members are engaged in the second emergency traffic management in as many days. Today's call was to Queen Street, downtown, where an underground power cable is sparking as traffic passes over the roadway above. Passing motorists and bystanders were curious about our presence and the partial road closure because no emergency was apparent: all the action was happening beneath the cobbles. Yesterday's call in Mount Albert required closure of west-bound traffic on busy St Lukes Road following a motor vehicle accident with associated cardiac arrest. Members took control of 4 major intersections for several hours while police made their investigations.
