It wasn't until the early hours of Sunday that members concluded what started out as a very busy Saturday. There were four working calls. Mid-morning, multiple 111 phone calls from Wainui Avenue in Point Chevalier signalled a house fire: the blaze apparently started while contractors were refuelling a petrol-driven water blaster. There was an off-road scrub fire in Whenuapai and, early evening, a request to assist at Te Atatu Road where 2 cars had collided, one hitting a power plinth causing a flash-over. Later in the evening members responded in 2 vehicles, one the mobile canteen, to another off-road fire in bush at Bombay. It was after midnight when they returned to the city. Our appliance rostered for Northern calls, OS2, started out to a house fire in the Wellsford district but was not required
