The driver of a car received serious injuries in this afternoon's crash attended by the Brigade on Tamaki Drive, Parnell, The car and a van, travelling in opposing directions, hit each other a glancing blow leaving the occupant of the car trapped and injured. Fire-fighters extricated the patient while our members sorted out traffic management on the busy waterfront drive, one of the main corridors to and from the city. The crash left the vehicles and debris in the middle of the road which, with careful management, allowed members to create narrowed, kerbside lanes to keep two-way traffic flowing. The Police Serious Crash Unit is investigating the cause.
