News Story
There were responses to 3 house fires, all at the same time, in Auckland overnight. All 3 badly damaged the dwellings and the first, in Western Springs, escalated to a 2nd Alarm when reinforcements were called to assist fire-fighting and because it was believed someone could be missing in the blaze. It turned out to be a suspicious fire - members strengthened cordons - and fire investigators and police were quickly on the scene. At the same time fire ripped through a house in Mangere. Just as soon as members arrived on the scene there was a further call to another house on fire in adjacent suburb, Papatoetoe, to which Brigade resources were mobilised from the first fire in Western Springs. 4 major house fires (the other was in Helensville) within 24 hours is something of a record in recent times.
