News Story
We've maintained our usual turnout rate this week, at better than one callout a day. And some have been major events. Tuesday afternoon, and members closed one of Auckland's busiest arterial roads in Epsom after a serious motor accident. 11 personnel turned out to the mid-afternoon call, 3 of whom left to respond to a house well alight in Albany. Thursday, late afternoon, and, members attended a 2nd alarm building fire in Remuera near the intersection with Broadway in Newmarket, also a very busy road (more than 14,000 vehicle movements per day). 14 members made themselves available, most involved in traffic management, especially when an aerial appliance was deployed, blocking more than half Remuera Road. Today the Brigade turned out to calls both North and South of the city. This morning's fire in Helensville severely damaged a house and left its elderly occupant suffering the effects of smoke inhalation. And this afternoon's call to Pukekohe East Road turned into a long duration job where members assisted police while they investigated a serious-injury accident between a car and a fire appliance.
