Apart from operational firefighters and NZFS staff from the Emergency Operations Centre, there has been a swag of visitors to the canteen. Chairperson of the NZ Fire Service Commission, Dame Margaret Bazley, came to see the facilities and National Commander, Mike Hall, also visited, meeting our members and signed the visitors book. Scores of ranking Officers from National HQ and the Regions also call at the canteen for meals or refreshments. Today Ryan Nelsen of the All Whites toured the complexed and also signed the book. When told it was staffed by Fire Police from Auckland he wrote "You guys rock !" Firefighters from the likes of Runanga, Little River, Los Angeles, Wood End, Singapore, and West Melton have been "clients", along with Police from many South Island centres. "Thanks for coming", "Great to see Auckland Fire Police here", "Well done Auckland", and a comment from a Policeman "Better than our grub".
