Long Job in the North on S.H.1.
8 October 2013
Work continued long into the night to remove an overturned stock truck-and-trailer and a car on S.H.1 near Topuni. Members joined with colleagues from Silverdale and Whangarei/Kaipara to support recovery operations following a late afternoon accident that left one person with serious injuries, some 30 head of stock put down at the scene and the main highway closed for many hours. Two mobile cranes from Whangarei righted the overturned stock truck and salvaged the car which had been wedged between the tractor and trailer units. The 3 teams of Operational Support personnel maintained inner cordons, provided lighting and, from the mobile canteen, served hot meals.
