Employers Recognised at Celebrations
18 September 2013

The Brigade took the opportunity during its 80th birthday celebrations to formally thank members' employers who assist the brigade's mission - to respond to emergency calls at all times of the day and night. Most of the employers who were acknowledged allow their member-employees to turnout to calls during usual working hours, but some self-employed members extend this to availability for night-time and weekend callouts. The Fire Service's Area Manager, Kerry Gregory, presented certificates of appreciation to representatives of employers, and self-employed members, saying that release of these personnel for major calls is greatly valued by the Service to benefit the community. Those thanked at our 80th party were: Glenn Teal Consulting, Hydro Media Ltd, Kitchen Worx Ltd, Laidlaw College, Maximum Control Ltd, Telecom NZ, Traffic Management NZ, and Vehicle Testing NZ. The companies were also publicly acknowledged in an advertisement in the New Zealand Herald newspaper this week.
