Grafton House Fire: 2nd Alarm
13 September 2013
Fire-fighters work either side of the burning house to prevent fire-spread

Tonight's fire swept through a house in Parkfield Terrace, Grafton, threatening to take out properties on either side. The 7pm blaze gutted the house and damaged 2 cars, one severely.Parkfield Terrace is a no exit street off Khyber Pass Road with houses built very close together so fire-fighters had their work cut out extinguishing the burning house and hosing down adjacent properties. The persistent fire was tackled with multiple deliveries, some from an aerial appliance with a jet directed straight into the building through sky-lights. Members closed the road, managed traffic on busy Khyber Pass Road, and assisted with crowd control, lighting and refreshments.
