Fatal Accident in the Fog
24 August 2013
Members worked in dense fog while supporting emergency workers at this morning's fatal motor accident at Kumeu, north-west of Auckland. About 2.30am a van left the road and rolled on Old North Road killing a man and a woman, passengers, while the male driver was injured and taken to hospital. Members provided road closures at outer blocks until relieved by traffic management contractors, but remained at inner cordons while extrication and police investigations continued. The canteen was responded for the long-duration job - Operational Support stayed on the scene until 6.45am when the vehicle was recovered, debris cleared and the road re-opened.
