The weekend began with members assisting on Friday night at Papakura Volunteer Fire Brigade's marathon fund-raiser and at the same time a group was en route to Northland to help at an Open Day/Recruiting Drive at Kaikohe. Auckland Operational Support members travelled north towing Variable Message Board trailers to help with traffic management on SH12 and local roads. The crew returned the same evening. Otherwise it was business as usual, members kept busy with four call-outs over the weekend, again illustrating the variety of emergencies dealt with : a hazard substance alert at Panmure, a persons-trapped motor vehicle accident at St Heliers, a warehouse fire at Mt Wellington and a persons-reported house fire in Mangere from which several occupants were taken to hospital suffering burns and smoke inhalation.
