Members gathered this week to farewell Life Honorary Member Mike Manton. His funeral was held at Oratia and members formed a guard of honour as his casket was carried from the chapel. Michael James Manton served in several brigades as a fire-fighter in Wairoa, Putaruru, Cambridge and Te Awamutu. He wanted to continue his volunteering when he moved to Auckland: he joined our Brigade in 1990 and received his 25 year Gold Star service award in 2002.
