Members of Auckland Fire Police on duty in Christchurch today joined other firefighters and American USAR personnel to remember victims of the recent quake. They took part in a nationwide period of silence at 12:51pm, exactly 1 week after the tragic earthquake stuck. In Auckland, one of our members, the Anglican bishop of Auckland, the RT Rev Ross Bay, participated in a Service of Solidarity held at Holy Trinity Cathedral. One of the hymns mentioned the work of volunteers and his prayers monsignor Bernard Keily of St Patrick's Cathedral again mentioned volunteers and the work they are doing in the aftermath of the tragedy.
