A fire sweeping through the upper floor of a house in Northcote early this morning proved a spectacular sight. The house, in Richmond Avenue, is on the slope above the northern approach to the harbour bridge so motorists and nearby residents had a clear view of flames pouring out every first-floor window. The fire occurred within 24 hours of new tenants taking possession... members helped salvage many boxes of household possessions, still not unpacked, in ground floor rooms. No one was home at the time and fire investigators are looking into the cause.
