Two Big Scrub-fires at Once

The fire at Clendon Park swept through toe toe, flax and scrub.

Despite a total fire ban in greater Auckland, the long dry spell has spawned many grass, scrub and bush fires. Our brigade was called to assist at 2 of the more serious incidents last evening. The first in the South Auckland suburb of Clendon Park quickly spread through scrub and toe-toe bushes threatening several houses in its path. During the 3 hour fire-fighting operation Members engaged in traffic management, refreshments from the canteen and command unit duties. Meanwhile a second unit was despatched to a scrub fire at Snell
