MVA: 1km of power lines down

The crash that brought down power lines for nearly 1k along Taupaki Road.
Members responded to a motor vehicle accident at Taupaki in the early hours where an out-of-control car had left the road, hit a power pole and came to rest in a paddock against a cattle loading ramp. Roads had to be closed because as well as the power pole blocking traffic, 11kv power lines were brought down for about a kilometre along Taupaki Road. The accident occurred at a Y intersection with Nixon Road so members were involved for the long duration job maintaining inner cordons at 3 locations assisted by traffic management contractors who set up outer road blocks
