Auckland Fire Police may never see FP8, its mobile canteen, again! That's if those Executive Officers at Emergency Operations Headquarters in Christchurch get their way! And there are plenty of other fire personnel who have said that if they could wangle it, they'll be taking the Canteen home with them when they go. And as you can see in the photo - the sticker placed over the "Auckland" sign means Christchurch Brigade has already claimed it as theirs! Auckland Fire Police Unit's canteen's operating at Operations' Headquarters adjacent to Christchurch's Central Fire Station, providing services in a very high profile position, hence the enviable looks from fire-fighters who have never before seen such an amenity. "I've told our members to keep the keys to the vehicle in their pockets at all times" says Auckland Fire Police Chief, Glenn Teal, with a smile, "we look forward to its return when emergency operations wind down in Christchurch".
The Unit is already preparing to relieve those Fire Police members on the scene with another volunteer crew, probably over the weekend.
