News Story
This morning 4 of our members were at their workplace or at home. By afternoon they were on their way to lend assistance in connection with the wild-fire in Tasman. The short-notice, 7-day deployment is the result of a request from the on-site Incident Management Team.
"We have moved quickly." says Chief Fire Officer Glenn Teal, "happy to meet the request to assist ongoing FENZ efforts during the present emergency". After volunteering their services this morning our 4 members made arrangements with their employers to take time off, settled family and personal matters, packed their bags and made ready to fly South. SSO Dan Scott, QFFs Rich Christie and Kieran Liddington, along with TFF Gareth Lewis, will undertake administrative and support duties at the FENZ field logistics centre. And our Brigade is preparing a second similar team should operations continue in Tasman (adjacent to Marlborough).
