First Call for 2019

It wasn't long after the traditional fireworks, and while some were still busily celebrating the New Year, that a vegetation fire was underway in South Auckland. Operations escalated to a second alarm with water tankers required for the blaze at Port Waikato which is in the South-West "corner" of our coverage area on the West Coast south of the Waikato River. Left unchecked it was thought flames might threaten properties. Our members attended, assisting at the scene and providing refreshments, returning to the city well after 4am.
