An old villa caught fire this afternoon in Mt Albert resulting in a Second Alarm. The house, in Willcott Street, was under renovation at the time. Flames poured out of front rooms, threatening to take over the whole place. Neighbours believed their house might be victim, too, but fortunately the wind took heat and smoke in the other direction. Our members closed the road to protect the scene, complicated by the fact that there were already roadworks in the street meaning no diversion was possible.
